Background to the Stealth Goggles

The goggles are made of a soft rubber that fits to the shape of the wearer’s face. The soft rubber straps also adjust to make wearing the goggles fairly comfortable. The infrared technology is housed in the plastic “eye” in the center of the goggles (hence the name Eyeclops I guess). There are two modes that can be set when wearing the goggles. The standard mode will emit red LED lights around the right eye piece. This is visible in darkness but it gives the wearer the ability to see up to 50 feet in darkness. The other mode is referred to as the stealth mode. This does not emit and red lights so there is no way the wearer can be detected, but it’s visual acuity in darkness is diminished.

The wearer sees only one screen of vision so peripheral vision may be lost. Also depth perception may be diminished too. One description given was that it was like looking through the end of a toilet roll. This is a good description but the screen is much larger than the diameter of a standard toilet roll I would suggest.

The user also has the option to switch from black and white vision to green screen vision (as you see in all the movies when they are using night vision devices). There is also a hinged flap on the eyepiece so that the wearer can see normally while still wearing the goggles. This is advised if the goggles are turned off so that you don’t have to be putting them on and off all the time.
